Mondo Straps are named after the classic motorcycle movie, "Mondo Enduro". When they set out on their world trip they had hard luggage on their bikes. By the end of the movie the riders that were still pushing forward were all using simple straps and some homemade dry bags. The simple fact is soft luggage is more durable off road than hard luggage. 

The Mondo Straps Kit has been designed to work with or without our soft racks. These straps allow you to use any bag you want for luggage. When installed properly you will be able to thrash about offroad and your luggage will stay put!

To use the Mondo Straps make a girth hitch around any mount point on your bike. Next, thread the flat runner back through the heavy duty metal cam buckle and pull it tight. The Mondo straps are easy on and easy off. The integrated tensioner system will keep your luggage in place no matter what terrain your adventure takes you on.

Mondo Straps Kit includes:

How do Mondo Straps attach to a motorcycle? +

Make a girth hitch with the runner loop around any mount point on your bike or soft rack, thread the flat runner back through the metal cam buckle and pull it tight. The built-in tensioner keeps the bag snug while you ride. A Mondo Straps Kit has two cam buckle tension loops and two four-foot runner loops, carries one bag, and works with or without a GCAG soft rack.

Which GCAG straps should I use for top bags and side bags? +

Use the Mondo Straps Kit for top (rear) bags and the GCAG Bag Snake Kit for side bags. The GCAG Mondo UL is a lighter option for top bags. Trail Ties work well for small-diameter bags. One strap kit secures one bag.

What's the difference between Mondo Straps and Mondo UL? +

The GCAG Mondo UL is the same idea as the Mondo Straps Kit, but it uses quick-release plastic buckles instead of metal cam buckles. It also includes Web Dominators to manage strap slack, and like the Mondo Straps it works with or without a GCAG soft rack.

Can I use my own bags with GCAG luggage straps? +

Yes. GCAG's system is built around any bag on any bike: strap kits such as the Mondo Straps Kit and GCAG Bag Snake Kit secure dry bags, duffels or other soft bags to a GCAG soft rack or directly to mount points on the bike. Strap kits don't include bags; GCAG recommends dry bags such as the Explorer Dry Bag.

Should I get the Mondo Straps Kit or the Mondo UL? +

Both secure one bag to your bike or GCAG soft rack. The difference is the buckle. The Mondo Straps Kit uses metal cam buckles. It's the better pick for bigger or heavier bags, and for riders who'd rather not trust plastic buckles. The GCAG Mondo UL ("UltraLight") is lighter, and its quick-release plastic buckles make rigging a bit faster. If a buckle ever breaks, you can replace it without sewing. The Mondo UL also comes with Web Dominators to keep loose strap ends tidy.
